| Livestock Project Think Humanity started raising money for goats in March 2008. Our managers purchased 45 goats in January 2009 and by July 2010 there were 121 goats. The chart below explains the importance and advantages of having a livestock self-sustainable project.
The goat shed was constructed with funding from Global Healing. It is approximatley 40 feet long and soon we will out-grow it and need to build a second shed.
Think Humanity raised money for goats and chickens. We funded a house for two goat keepers, furniture, a latrine, a chicken house and provide medication and care for livestock. A 4,000 liter water storage tank was added in 2010.
In 2010 a high quality buck was added for breeding.

Nsabimana Kanizius, Think Humanity livestock manager My most important leadership position is working as a manager of the livestock project for Think Humanity, an organization that works to bring a positive change for refugees in Africa. Under Think Humanity, weve built an orphanage to provide comfort and to bring the togetherness of these orphans who are lonely in the community. I am in charge of building sheds for livestock and purchasing goats. These goats are to provide milk, meat and other necessities plus basic needs for the orphans when we sell one. The goats are provided to vulnerables and disabled families who cannot afford to provide anything for themselves, to restart life for them. The chickens provide income, eggs and meat. As manager of the livestock project, I am also concerned with our sustainability. The goats provide manure to the community farms e.g. banana plantations which will result in good production of bananas. Then bananas will provide food for the goats to survive on which will be in the form of a circle. Nothing is wasted, everything is a part of the cycle. - Jimmy Pierre Kanizius, TH livestock manager Nsabimana Kanizius (Jimmy)
